KARACHI: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigations has recovered a huge quantity of smuggled tea and wine worth Rs 10 million.
According to sources, director Customs Intelligence received information that attempts are being made to smuggle wine and tea. He constituted a team under the supervision of Deputy Director Khayal Mohammad and Intelligence Officer Akmal Shahbaz. The team intercepted a truck on Ring Road and recovered 50 bags of smuggled tea, while 50 bottles of whisky were hidden in secret parts of the vehicle.
Customs team asked the driver of the vehicle to produce legal documents regarding possession of tea and whisky, but they failed to provide any relevant documents. Customs team arrested both accused persons. Customs team after completion of necessary procedure forwarded the case to customs adjudication for further proceedings.
