Peshawar Customs seizes non-duty paid items worth Rs 1258.45m during last six months

PESHAWAR: Anti-Smuggling Division Peshawar has seized non-duty tax paid goods worth worth of Rs 1258.45 million during the last six months in 485 seizer cases. At least Rs 607.36 million foreign origin goods were seized during the corresponding period of six months last year.

Talking to Customs Today, Deputy Collector Anti-Smuggling Division Peshawar, Ubaid Ullah, said that on the directives of Collector Model Custom Collectorate Muhammad Aamer, he reorganised Anti-Smuggling Division and introduced a new policy for better coordination with levies and police.

“We strengthened and expanded our informer’s network and conducted information based targeted operation against organized groups who were involved in transportation of illegal foreign origin goods,” Ubaid Ullah said.

In order to keep check on corrupt elements in MCC, Anti-Smuggling Division established special counter checking squad, he informed. He added that after adoption of such measures we see positive output.

During last six months Anti-Smuggling Division Peshawar had seized narcotics, wine, cloth, auto parts, electronic commodities, tea,  shampoo etc worth Rs 1258.45 million.
