Peshawar customs seizes black tea, betal nuts from Hayatabad

PESHAWAR: Collectorate of Customs has seized smuggled black tea and betal nuts along other non-duty paid goods at Hayatabad check post.

Customs Inspector Wajid Khan told Customs Today that NDP goods were being smuggled from Kharkhano market Peshawar to other parts of the province.

According to the details, Customs Preventive team deputed at Hayatabad check post intercepted a car bearing registration no: LR-4567 which was loaded with goods. Upon interrogation it was found that these goods were illegally smuggled. The goods include 7 bags of imported black tea, 4 bags of betal nuts , 10 pair of used tyres and 15 thans of foreign origin cloth.

The Customs Inspector Wajid Khan further told that Collector Preventive Asif Saeed Khan has directed to curb the smuggling from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Customs Preventive team has been committed to eradicate smuggling in order enlarge the net revenue collection. The Peshawar Police also helping customs team to identify smugglers for which should be appreciated. Customs team after registering a case started investigations. The estimated worth of the seized goods is Rs 1.3 million.
