Peshawar Customs seizes smuggled goods, non-duty paid vehicles worth Rs74m from July-October 2016-17

ISLAMABAD: Directorate of Customs Intelligence (I&I) and Investigation Peshawar seized smuggled goods amounting to Rs.74 million during first four month (July-October) of financial year 2016-17.

Sources told Customs Today that that staff of Customs Intelligence showed outstanding performance during first months of financial year and generated revenue by impounding non duty paid vehicles smuggled goods and offending vehicles.

Sources adding that during different raids in four months of FY16-17 the anti smuggling squad of Customs Intelligence seized 10 kilograms of chars and arrested smugglers, sources said that during month of October 2016-17 Customs Intelligence authorities seized different type of smuggled goods under value of Rs24 million.

Sources said that in its ongoing campaign against smuggling in respect of narcotics and drugs, Customs Intelligence Peshawar extended full assistance to law enforcement agencies to curb smuggling trends in region.

It is necessary to mention here that Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is proactive against smuggling particularly narcotics which come into the country from Afghanistan and the money made from this dirty business is used for funding terrorists and anti-social elements.

Sources said customs authorities have planned a mega crackdown against drugs and liquor smuggling. Recently, a diplomatic liquor consignment was also seized.
