PESHAWAR: Collectorate of Customs Preventive aborted several attempts of smuggling and seized NDP goods worth Rs160 million in first half of December.
Collector Asif Saeed Khan said this while talking with Customs Today at Peshawar.
The collector said that a huge cache of foreign origin NDP arms were recovered from a truck export scanner. The empty truck KBL 3865 was coming from Afghanistan which led to recovery of a big cache of foreign origin arms from its secret parts worth Rs 6 million.
The Collector further said that foreign currency at Torkham Border seized foreign currency worth Rs 3.5 million Saudi riyals.
The Collector added that the currency was attempted to be smuggled from Pakistan to Afghanistan in two export trucks KBL 1796 and KBL 1128 .
Criminal proceedings have been initiated under the relevant provisions of law against the culprits and further investigation is underway. The collector added that
customs squad posted at Chamkani Morh area of Ring Road Peshawar recovered foreign origin cloth from a passenger bus which was traveling from Lahore to Peshawar. The anti-smuggling unit also foiled attempt of smuggling cloth from Kharkhano Market where salesmen while carrying NDP cloth were arrested.
The anti-smuggling squad Nowshera on GT road intercepted a suspicious trailer loaded with China origin clothes and case was registered against the accused smugglers.
Customs Preventive team including Inspector Gohar Khan and Inspector Basir Khan posted at entry check posts at Peshawar thwarted three attempts of smuggling and recovered non duty paid foreign origin tyres, smuggled door locks and huge quantity of cigarettes.
