Peshawar customs stays plus with Rs129.47m Sales Tax on Imports

PESHAWAR: Model Customs Collectorate Peshawar exceeded with a difference of Rs129.47million Sales Tax (ST Imp) on Imports whereas it exceeded with an amount of Rs97.70million Additional Income Tax or With Holding Tax (AIT/WHT) during the month of May of Financial Year 2016-17 against the revenue collection under the same head during the corresponding Financial Year 2015-16. The MCCP collected Rs3.75million more Sales Tax levied on palm oil against the collection of the same head during the same period of corresponding FY15-16.

According to MCC Peshawar, the collectorate generated Rs480million ST on Imports during May 16-17 whereas it did Rs350million during the same period of corresponding Financial Year 15-16. During May 16-17, the MCC Peshawar earned Rs402million AIT/WHT whereas it did Rs304million under the same head during corresponding FY15-16. During May 16-17, the MCCP received Rs187million Sales Tax levied on palm oil whereas it did Rs183million during the same period of corresponding FY15-16.
The MCC Peshawar collected Rs15.27million Federal Excise Duty (FED) during May 16-17 whereas it did Rs20 million under the same head during corresponding FY15-16.
Due to strike of the truckers at Karachi which comprised on 10 days of May FY16-17, it was difficult for the MCC Peshawar for collection of revenue during May 16-17 whereas the collectorate surpassed the collection of all duty taxes against the same period of corresponding Financial Year 2015-16.
