PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Dry Port has generated Rs631.131 million revenue in August FY2017-18 which has been Rs40 million less than the target mark but Rs43.321 million more than the collection of August FY2016-17.

The Dry Port Peshawar collected Rs671.131 million to achieve the target collection mark for August 2017-18 while it was able to receive Rs 631.131 million. The Dry Port Peshawar received Rs587.81 million of revenue during the whole month of August in FY 2016-17.
The sources at Peshawar Dry Port told Customs Today on Tuesday that Deputy Collector Dry Port Peshawar has directed the Customs staff at Dry Port to increase the revenue for monthly collection of September FY 2107-18.
The Deputy Collector has also directed the Appraiser to provide the consignment clearing data in order to determine the methods for raising the collection of coins in the current Financial Year.
Additional Collector HQ Dry Port Peshawar, when contacted, demanded that Dry Port Peshawar, being one of the major stockholders to collect revenue on behalf of the Federal Board of Revenue, establish hard and fast rules to reach the target revenue collection of the current FY 2017-18.
Due to political turmoil, the cargo transportation through Pakistan Railways sometime stops for days which causes the department low revenue. The additional Collector Peshawar Dry Port also urged the officials to serve with dignity and show no flexibility towards the corrupt practices in the Dry Port Peshawar.
The Dry Port Peshawar generated Rs237.80 million Customs Duty during the month of August while it has collected Rs237.80 million Sales Tax during the same time period.
The Dry Port Peshawar collected Rs104.25 million revenue by generating Applied A.I.T and did Rs3.4375 million Federal Excise Duty during the month of August.
The Dry Port Peshawar earned Rs14.78 million revenue by selling auctioning off goods during August FY2017-18 and Rs29.41 million revenue was received in the form of RD.The Dry Port Peshawar earned Rs31.2648 million through ST on VM imports.
Additional Collector further said the figures suggest that the Dry Port Peshawar worked hard to generate Rs43.321 million more revenue than what it did in August 2016-17. The officials of Dry Port Peshawar deserves appreciation in order to sustain the good performance till the end of current FY 2017-18.
