Peshawar I&I, FC bust drug trafficking network

PESHAWAR: Regional Directorate of Customs Intelligence & Investigation (I&I) Peshawar and FC’s joint operation against international drug trafficking network

 During four different operations in Wadi Tirah of Khyber district, drugs worth Rs.320 million recovered while two accused were arrested. The suspects are linked to an international drug trafficking network and account for most of the drug proceeds part is used for terrorism.

A month and a half ago, in the joint operation of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) FC, worth Rs.300 million the drug was seized.

It is necessary to mention here that Director General Customs Intelligence and Investigation Islamabad Muhammad Ali Raza Hanjara received secret information about smuggling of huge quantity of drugs from Afghanisn through Khyber District Rajgul Pakistan.

The Director Customs Intelligence Peshawar Shafqat Ali Khan Niazi immediately contacted the FC and sent the Customs Intelligence Peshawar team for further action towards the location.

The operation was carried out under the coordinated strategy of Frontier Corps and Customs Intelligence Peshawar in Rajgul area of Tirah valley, where during the blockade, heavy loads were carried on the shoulders by disguised as laborers.

The drugs were being transported to Tirah Valley in Pakistan by Customs Intelligence and FC officials after encountering 300 Kg of high quality hashish and 2.5 kg of opium and weapons recovered.

Meanwhile, two accused were also arrested. The value of the exported drugs in the international market is Rs320 million.

The Director General Customs Intelligence and Investigation Mohammad Ali Raza Hanjara said that operations of Pakistan Customs Intelligence, Pakistan Army and FC will continue against drugs.
