PESHAWAR: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation foiled an attempt of tax evasion through mis-declaration at Peshawar dry port and seized goods during clearance process.
Sources told Customs Today that a tip off received by Director Customs Intelligence Dr. Arsalan Subactageen regarding clearance of consignment via mis-declaration. The director appraised anti-smuggling squad regarding the alleged tax evasion and directed to re-examine glasses consignment. After re-examination, there were 50000 brands of glass in the consignment.
The importers had informed the clearing agents and customs department that glasses are imported from China but the consignment had different brands including Rabin and Italy made spectacles.
The importer through connivance with customs officers tried to evade taxes & duty of millions of rupees through mis-declaration.
