Peshawar I&I foils attempt to smuggle 10kg chars near Swabi Interchange

PESHAWAR: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&I) team recovered 10 kilogram of charas from secret cavities of a Toyota Corolla car which was coming from tribal area on 17.1.2019.

According to details Director Customs I&I Zahid Khokhar received credible information about smuggling of narcotics. He directed Additional Director Wajid Zaman to take all measures to foil this attempt.

The customs I&I team held a secret check post near Swabi Interchange.  The suspected Toyota Corolla car bearing registration no.QK-578 Islamabad was spotted coming from Peshawar side, it was signaled to stop but the driver of the car abandoned his vehicle and decamped from the spot.

The customs team during thorough checking of vehicle found chars was tactfully concealed in secret cavities at the back seats of car.  The car was then brought to the premises of the Directorate where through search led to recovery of 10 kilograms chars (gross) which has been seized along with carrier vehicle.

The estimated value of the aforementioned seized narcotics and vehicle is around Rs.2.5 million (chars Rs1 million and vehicle Rs1.5 million). A case has been registered while further investigations are still under way.
