Peshawar I&I impounds Mazda truck loaded with smuggled cloth

PESHAWAR: Acting on credible information that huge quantity of foreign origin cloth will be smuggled Dr. Arslan Subuctageen constituted a ASO team to foil the attempt. The anti-smuggling squad with assistance of local police foiled a bid to smuggle huge quantity of foreign origin cloth.

Sources told Customs Today Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) staff with assistance of local police intercepted Mazda truck bearing registration no: AKS-14-235 coming from Peshawar side tried to run away.

The occupants abandoned the vehicle on the road side and fled from the spot, the ASO staff conducted search and found foreign origin cloth stuffed in the vehicle truck along goods were brought to the premises of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation where thorough search led to the recovery of foreign origin cloth measuring 33446 yards.

Sources told that the smuggled goods along with offending vehicle have been seized for violation of the provision of the Customs Act 1969, it added that the estimated value of the goods and vehicle is estimated is Rs13.93 million, goods Rs.11.93 million whereas the FIR has been lodged and further investigation are underway.
