Peshawar I&I squad seizes chars & opium near Rashakai Interchange

PESHAWAR: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation squad seized 5 kilogram of chars and 250 grams of opium which were tactfully hidden in the spare tyres of vehicles and arrested the smuggler on the spot, the arrested smuggler introduced himself as a journalist and TV anchor and showed his press card to the squad.

Director Dr. Arslan told Customs Today, that credible information was received that sizeable quantity of narcotics would be smuggled from tribal area t in a Honda civic car, in pursuance of the said information, the staff of this Directorate of I&I established a secret naka near Rashakai Interchange (District Nowshera).

The Director told that the suspected Honda car bearing registration no: HW-655 Islamabad was spotted coming from Peshawar side which was signaled to stop but the driver ignored the signal and sped away, he added that after chasing vehicle for some distance it was stopped by the squad which was driven by Aziz-ul-Haq resident of Swat, who introduced himself as a journalist and TV anchor and shoed his press card.

The vehicle was searched on spot and found contraband (chars and opium) in the spare tryes, the drug smuggler was arrested on the spot while vehicle was brought to the premises of the Directorate of I&I Peshawar

Dr. Arslan told that the estimated value of the aforementioned seized is around Rs.1.2 million, he added that FIR No.49 of 2018 has been logged against Aziz-ul-Haq while further investigations are still underway.
