Peshawar NAB arrests auditor of tax office

PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) arrested accused Yahya Khan, Senior Auditor Regional Tax Office and Akhtar Munir, Ex-Accountant Khurram Steel Castings (Pvt) Ltd involved in misappropriation of tax money causing loss of millions of rupees to national exchequer.

The accused person Akhtar Munir in his capacity as accountant at Khurram Steel Castings (Pvt) Ltd Hayatabad was responsible to pay sales tax of the company to Federal Board of Revenue.

He in collusion with the other co-accused managed to misappropriate the said sales tax through fake, fabricated and bogus bank receipts for years.

Further to hide their crime, both accused in connivance with each other ensured that no notice is issued to company.

NAB KP is vigorously pursuing the case, more arrests are on card. The accused persons will be presented in the Accountability Court Peshawar for obtaining their physical remand.
