Peshawar Preventive taking measures to enhance revenue generation: Collector Kamran Rajar

PESHAWAR: Collectorate of Customs Preventive Collector Karmran Azam Khan Rajar has said that Customs Preventive had sent 17 kilograms of gold to Mint House, Lahore for melting purpose during financial year 2020-21 which will definitely help generate revenue for the next year.

Talking with Customs Today he said that the Collectorate of Customs Preventive Peshawar surpassed assigned target of customs duty for the FY-2020-21 by a hefty margin of Rs122.24 million which comes to 12.39 percent, adding that the current FY 2020-21 revenue surpassed by high margin of 69.78 percent against the correspondence period of last year.

He said that during the FY 2020-21 by putting in all-out efforts to achieve the assigned targets in all important areas identified by the FBR.

In addition to regular/routine collection of duty/taxes, an effective strategy was devised to specially focus on areas to enhance revenue through administrative measures like auction, anti-smuggling as well as crediting of seized/confiscated currency into National Bank of Pakistan.

Moreover, this Collectorate had also sent 17 Kg of gold to Mint House, Lahore for melting purpose in the month of April- 2021 which is a greater source of generating revenue for the next year.

Karmran Azam said that besides, taking concrete measures towards facilitation of trade and ease of doing Customs business, the measures so taken on both avenues worked very well and the Collectorate was able to achieve the assigned target in all areas besides trade facilitation.

As far as the revenue side is concerned, the performance of the Collectorate is outlined hereunder, the Anti-Smuggling formation of this Collectorate had seized different goods worth Rs3711.49 million in the FY-2020-21. while Rs836.88 million has been collected through auction during the FY-2020-21.

He said that Currency declaration system (CDS) has been installed at Peshawar, Airport and Border Customs Station, Torkham, which is facilitating foreigners.

He said that a separate PMDU Cell has also been created for redressal of grievances while each complaint is addressed on war priority and replied as per law.

He said that recruitment process of 165 sepoys has been completed in befitting manners for Anti-Smuggling purpose.

Karmran Azam Khan Rajar, the Collector of Customs (Enforcement), Peshawar, has attributed this impressive revenue performance of the Collcctorate to the leadership of Syed Muhammad Tariq Huda, Member Customs (Operations) and Dr. Asif Mehmood Jah, Chief Collector (North), Islamabad.

He congratulated his officers and staff on achieving the target, saying that this was achieved by the sheer hard work of all the team members and reiterated the resolve to continue their efforts further with the same zeal and fervor.

The Collector Enforcement also awarded commendation certificate and cash reward to the Officer and officials whose performance remained outstanding.
