LAHORE – As the prices of petrol, high-octane, kerosene, high-speed diesel and light diesel have been reduced by Rs 7.99, Rs 11.82, Rs 10.48, Rs 5.62 and Rs 9.56 per litre respectively, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that the government would take every possible measure for the welfare of the people and the country.

In a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Raiwand, the PM said, “Instead of diverting all the benefit of oil price plunge towards the government coffers, we gave relief to the people.” They discussed the ongoing political situation of the country, particularly the National Action Plan, special courts, Zarb-e-Azb and the next governor of Punjab. They said that the substantial cut in fuel prices should translate into a visible decline in the prices of essential commodities.
