KABUL: Petrol and gas prices decreased during the outgoing week in Kabul, where the rates of flour, sugar, rice and gold edged up, retailers said on Thursday.
The rate of one litre of petrol fell by five afghanis to 53afs from last week’s price of 58afs, said a filling station worker in Qala-i-Fathullah neighbourhood.

A kilogram of liquefied gas sold for 60afs, recording a 5afs decrease, said Mohammad Saleem, a dealer in Pul-i-Pacha area of Kabul.
The rates of daily-use items aged up, as the price of a 49-kilogram bag of Pakistani flour stood at 1,435 afghanis against last week’s 1,430afs.
A 49-kilogram bag of Pakistani sugar sold for 1980afs, rising from last week’s price of 1950afs, said Food Traders’ Union head Haji Fazal Rahman.
The prices of a 45-kg sack of Pakistani rice rose from 1,650afs to 1,700afs. A 16-litre tin of Shaista ghee sold for 1,000afs — the same price as last week’s.
Ashiqullah, a wholesaler in Kabul, sold a kilogram of Madina green tea for 220afs and the same amount of black African tea for 240afs, no changes in their prices.
But retailerAhmad Haroonin Dahna-i-Bagh locality sold a 49-kg bag of sugar for 2,050afs, 16 liters of Shaista ghee for 1,080afs, a 50-kg sack of flour for 1,450afs, a kilogram of black African tea for 270afs and the same quantity of Madina green tea for 260afs.
Mohammad Fawad, a jeweller in Timor Shahi area, said the price of one gram of Arabian gold increased from 1, 950 afghanis to 2,200afs.The same quantity of the Russian variety jumped from 1,700afs to 1,750afs.
Moneychanger Ahmad Shah said the buying rate of one US dollar was 66.90afs, while 1,000 Pakistani rupees accounted for 622afs. Last week’s exchange value of the dollar stood at 67.70afs and 1,000 Pakistani rupees at 624afs.
