Petrol price in Pakistan amongst lowest in region except Iran: Officials

ISLAMABAD: Price of petrol in Pakistan is amongst the lowest in the region except from Iran and Afghanistan, officials claimed.

The offical said Iran is an oil producing country therefore the Prices of Petrol in Iran are the lowest in the region while in Afghanistan its price is slightly lower than Pakistan.

He said in Iran petrol is being sold at Rs 34.21 per litre while in Afghanistan its price is Rs 74.64 while in Pakistan it is being sold at Rs 76.76 per litre.

He said in Sri Lanka its price is Rs 97.36 per litre while in Nepal it is being sold at Rs 106.05 28.26 per litre. In China petrol price is Rs 113.46 per litre that is Rs 35.67 costlier than Pakistan.

In India petrol is being sold at Rs 114.35 per litre that means it is Rs 36.56 costlier than Pakistan while in Bangladesh its price is Rs 125 that is Rs 47.21 costlier than Pakistan.

He said steps have been taken by the Government to ensure uninterrupted supplies of petrol in the country and monthly Product Review meetings are conducted to closely monitor supply and demand position in the country.

Moreover, Oil Marketing Companies have been directed to build-up stocks and storage of Petrol for 20 days as per policy of the Government and Licensing terms and conditions of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority.

He said that imports of Petroleum products are streamlined keeping in view demand and sales of Petrol in the country.
