ISLAMABAD:Petrol prices are likely to see a whooping decrease in upcoming fortnightly review for August 2025.

The news prices will come into effect from August 1 till 15.

The anticipated cut in petroleum prices is also being attributed to strengthening rupee against the US dollar.

Sources said the petrol price is likely to drop to Rs263.08 as compared to current rate of Rs272.16 per litre. Similarly, the high speed diesel price may drop to Rs280.62 from existing Rs283.35 per listre.

However, the prices of kerosene oil and light speed diesel are likely to surge by Rs3.55 and Rs2.33 to Rs184.88 and Rs170.09 per litre, respectively.

Meanwhile, oil prices took a breather in Asian trade on Wednesday after the previous session’s spike of more than 3%, as investors awaited developments from U.S. President Donald Trump’s tighter deadline for Russia to end the war in Ukraine.

Most active Brent crude futures rose 8 cents, or 0.12%, to $71.81 a barrel by 0419 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude gained 8 cents, or 0.12%, to $69.29 a barrel.

The Brent crude September contract expiring on Wednesday was up 18 cents at $72.69 per barrel. Both contracts had settled on Tuesday at their highest since June 20.
