LAHORE: Just before the government’s announcement of increasing prices of petroleum products, the filling station in the country’s second largest city started closing down due to reduction in supply from the marketing companies.
Most of the total 325 petrol pumps in Lahore were closed for sale and those opened were providing fuel to motorists in limited quantity. The situation is likely to remain continue on Monday (today) as the delivery of fuel is not expected from the companies to petrol pumps till Tuesday. There are reports of fuel shortage in different cities of Punjab and other provinces.
Motorists in the city were witnessed rushing from one station to another for getting cheap fuel before the mid night, however, few of them succeeded in their quest.
The availability of CNG, though, brought some relief to vehicle owners, the rush at the petrol stations continued whole the day. The reason is that the gas is available only 20 per cent filling stations. From total 250 in Lahore, only 60 outlets are opened and unable to meet the demand of the consumers.
