ISLAMABAD: The petroleum group import into the country decreased by 37.62 percent during first eight months of ongoing fiscal year as compared to the same period of last year.
According the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, petroleum group import came down from $8.186 billion to $5.107 billion during the period from July-February 2015-16. The petroleum products import in the country also decreased by 34.54 percent in last 8 months as about 7,232,544 metric tons worth $3.401 billion imported against the import of 7,541,848 metric tons valuing $5.186 million imported during same period of last year.
Meanwhile the data revealed the petroleum crude import decreased by 42.96 percent as country saved $1.28 billion on the import of crude oil. In last eight months, 4,353,581 metric tons of petroleum crude worth $1.705 billion was imported as compared to 3,971,787 metric tons valuing $2.990 imports of corresponding period of last financial year, it added.
On month on month basis, petroleum group import also decreased by 34.38 percent and recorded at $433.99 million in month of February, 2016 as compared to Import of $676.625 million of same month last year. Besides, import of petroleum products in country also decreased by 37.39 percent in month of February, 2016 as it came down from $510.88 million to $319.827 million, the data revealed.
Same time, import of crude petroleum decreased by 25.11 percent and it was recorded at $124.122 million in month last month as compared to $165.745 million of same month of last year, it added.
