Petroleum products: FBR to brief Senate body about tax rate, revenue collection

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) would brief the Senate Committee on Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics and Privatisation today (Wednesday) on the rate of taxes and revenue collected on petroleum products since June 30, 2013.

The committee would also take up the Rs 480 billion power circular debt issue for further discussion on Wednesday (today). The meeting of the committee would be held here under the chairmanship of Senator Saleem Mandviwala, according to Senate notification.

The committee would also deliberate on the issue of debt (foreign and domestic) obtained and retired by the government since June 2013, it added.

The Finance Ministry is scheduled to brief the committee on the functions, role and responsibility of SME Bank while the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) would brief the committee on the embezzlement occurred in the Prime Minister’s Youth Loan Scheme in the Mardan Region.

According to the notification, briefing by the National Bank of Pakistan on the new recruitment and promotion policy approved by the NBP Board on April 28, 2016 is also on the agenda of the meeting.
