HANOI: State oil and gas group PetroVietnam said it had started construction of the 1,200-megawatt Long Phu 1 coal-fired power plant in the country’s south, the Vietnam Economic Times newspaper reported.
The plant, located in Soc Trang province, will provide 7.8 billion kilowatt hour of electricity per year when operational, with the first turbine scheduled to start in 2018 and the second a year later, the report said.
