PFA seals 3 snack factories

LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has sealed three famous snack factories for using expired and rancid oil in preparation of ‘Nimko’ and biscuits in the provincial metropolis.

A special raid party, under the supervision of PFA Additional Director General (ADG) Operations Rafia Haider, inspected various food units at Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate, Multan Road Industrial Area and Ghaziabad. On the occasion, she was accompanied by Deputy Director Operations (Lahore), Food Safety Officer and other team members.

ADG Operations said that it was compulsory for the factories to maintain a record of water filtration plant, oil, ghee and other products. She said that the factories failed to produce the record of the oil change and discarding it. Food safety teams also sealed a restaurant over providing poor quality food in Johar Town area. The teams also punished several food business operators with Rs50,000 fine tickets during inspection of the food items.
