LAHORE: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) on Monday said that the PHF is looking forward to its newly elected vice president Collector of Customs Tariq Huda for the revival of the game.
Collector of Customs Tariq Huda has been elected for the office of vice president of the PHF in a recent meeting of the federation.
Sources added that he was nominated by PHF President Brig (r) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar.
The sources said that Huda replaced Wassay Jaleel, the former vice president. Tariq Huda is working as Collector Customs, Karachi. He supported PHF ever since the present management took over the charge. His contribution in mustering finances for the National Hockey Championship 2016 in particular is really appreciable, it was said.
The PHF looks forward to his continuous support in the revival and strengthening of national hockey as a valuable member of the PHF executive board.
It is pertinent to mention here that hockey had been earning good name of Customs department for a long period of time as it produces a number of international hockey champions for Pakistan.
Since the Customs department has done away with the hockey patronizing the national game Pakistan hockey has lost its glory in international hockey.
Observers said that the Customs department should patronizing hockey by appointing hockey players in the department for the revival of national game.
