MANILA: Authorities seized some P5.5 million worth of suspected shabu and paraphernalia in three separate operations against illegal drugs in Davao City and Tagum City in the past three days.
Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Arlene Palabrica of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Tagum City, operatives led by Superintendent Lito E. Patay in coordination with Davao del Norte Provincial Police Office (DNPPO)’s Public Safety Company, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Davao Region arrested four suspected drug pushers in Barangay Magugpo West in Tagum City.
The four arrested suspects were identified as Junaid Bangcola alias Malik, Ramirah Bangcol alias mira, one alias Mongkao, and Sarah Bangcola alias Sarah.
Police seized an estimated of 650 grams of suspected shabu with a street value of P5 million.
Senior Superintendent Samuel Gadingan, police director of the DNPPO, said that they have been monitoring the four suspects’ movements and activities before the dragnet.
“Matagal-tagal na din ang surveillance natin sa apat na suspect,” Gadingan told Sun.Star Davao in a phone interview Monday afternoon.
Operatives also seized drug paraphernalia including an improvised foil tooter and one plastic container.
“The four arrested suspects are presently detained at the TCPO,” Gadingan added in the vernacular.
The four suspects are facing charges for violation of the Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Meanwhile, the Task Force Davao intercepted some 540,000 worth of suspected shabu in two separate checkpoints in Barangay Sirawan in Toril and Lasang over the weekend.
The suspect, who was caught in possession of 12 sachets of suspected shabu, was identified as George C. Boligao, a miner, who hails from General Santos City.
The Army in coordination with the PDEA-Davao officials revealed that the sachets of illegal drugs came from South Cotabato are supposed to be delivered in Maragusan.
Army also seized one firearm along seven live ammos of still undetermined caliber.
Another suspected drug pusher was also arrested at the Lasang checkpoint last Saturday morning.
The suspect was identified as Mario Lansang of Paquibato District was already turned over to the Bunawan police station.
The two arrested suspects will be charged with violations of RA 9165.
Colonel Macairog S. Alberto, Commander of Task Force Davao, in a statement, said that the security measures in the checkpoints are now intensified in line with the 30th Kadayawan celebrations.
