MANILA: Criminal charges have been filed by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) with the Department of Justice (DOJ) against four companies for their alleged combined tax liability of P80.36 million.
Charged for violating the Tax Code were CWS Philippines, Inc. and its president Jacqueline Lane and treasurer David Lane for failure to pay P5.51 million in taxes in 2008.
A company engaged in importation/services, CWS is based in Salcedo Village, Makati City.
Another firm based in Makati City, the Kamada Mechanical Contractors Inc., was assessed with a tax liability of P52.79 million for 2008.
The BIR named Kamada president and chairman of the board Jimmy Kang as respondent.
The tax agency is also running after P17.79 million in unpaid taxes for 2010 from ENPHLOW Inc., a company based in Barangay Pinagkaisahan, Quezon City.
ENPHLOW is said to be in the business of sale of motor vehicle parts and retail of liquefied petroleum.
The BIR also charged Philippine Association of Hog Raisers, Inc. (PAHRI) and its president Soledad Agbayani and treasurer Manuel So for failure to pay taxes worth P4.27 million in 2008.
The Quezon City-based company is engaged in the sale of imported hog feeds.
The BIR said the four companies and responsible officers have been served with notices of their tax dues which they allegedly ignored.
“The respondents’ obstinate failure and continued refusal to pay their long overdue deficiency taxes, despite repeated demands, constitute willful failure to pay the taxes due to the government,” the BIR said.
