MANILA: The Bureau of Customs seized some P13 million worth of illegally imported sugar, candies, toys and other goods at the Port of Cagayan de Oro.
Confiscated were 320,000 kilos of sugar two container vans of candies and a container van of each of toys and pipe fittings declared as kitchenwares, tableware, housewares, stoneware, fittings, and furniture, among others, Ruby Claudia Alameda, Acting District Collector of the BOC-Port of Cagayan de Oro said.
The shipments arrived at the Port of Cagayan de Oro from China last May consigned to AMD Royale Enterprises.
We will not let these smugglers get away by pouring in illegal items like sugar in the country. Let these seizures be a reminder to all importers that we expect no less than full compliance with the law. That means accuracy and truthfulness in all import declarations and fulfillment of requirements such as import permits from regulatory agencies,” she said.
