MANILA: Some 14 suspects were arrested and 25 grams of suspected shabu worth P100,000 were seized during a police raid on an alleged drug den, or “shabu tiangge,” in Manila’s Sampaloc district on Friday.
Among those arrested was the drug den’s alleged operator, who denied the accusation and explained that he was just an electrician who just happened to be in the room the police raided.
According to Regional Anti illegal Drugs-Special Operations task Group head Chief Inspector Robert Razon, criminals sourced their drugs from the Sampaloc tiangge. “Dito sila bumibili ng illegal drugs at dito na rin po sila gumagamit po so one stop shop na po.” Razon said.
Meanwhile, Barangay Chairman Danilo Reyes admitted to GMA News that he knew about the illegal activities in their area, and he had reported it to the police several times. “Nag punta ako sa [police] headquarters but to no avail. Pag nagpunta sila ng government, ano, at pulis di ko alam paano sila nakakalabas,” said Reyes.
