TACURONG CITY: Lawmen seized P1.5 million worth of shabu from a large-scale drug smuggler nabbed in a dragnet in Tacurong City over the weekend, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said Monday.

The arrested drug trafficker, Purita Reyes Jalos, is now clamped down in an undisclosed detention facility, awaiting prosecution.

Lyndon Aspacio, PDEA’s director for Region 12, said Jalos was arrested at a public terminal in Tacurong City while in the act of selling shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) to agents disguised as drug dependents.

Barangay officials helped the PDEA carry out the operation that led to the arrest of Jalos, whose network disperses shabu in Tacurong City and nearby towns in the adjoining Sultan Kudarat and Maguindanao provinces.

The agents who arrested Jalos recovered from her possession 200 grams of shabu, valued at no less than P1.5 million.

“She is a big fish. The long hand of law finally caught here,” Aspacio said.
