MANILA: A Chinese national was arrested and a kilo of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or “shabu,” seized from him here the other day in a buy-bust operation at the District Mall in Imus, Cavite, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency said.
PDEA Region 3 director Jeoffrey Tacio said they had been monitoring the operations of Jessie Chua, 41, a resident of Veraville Town Homes in Las Pinas City, since February this year.
On Monday, an anti-narcotics agent, posing as a buyer, offered to buy a kilo of shabu from Chua for P1.5 million and they agreed to meet at the Imus mall, where personnel from the PDEA and Imus police arrested the suspect.
It turned out the price Chua agreed to was more than half the street value of the drugs seized from him, which Tacio said was worth P3.5 million.
The suspect is detained at the PDEA jail in Camp Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga while charges are being readied for filing against him.
