PIA earns Rs53.4 billion in 6 months

LAHORE: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has earned Rs6 billion or 12pc more revenue during the first six months of 2014, as it has earned Rs53.4 billion against Rs47.6 billion it earned during the same period of 2013.

This was disclosed in the PIA’s 359th Board of Directors meeting at the airlines office, which was presided over by PIA Chairman Muhammad Ali Gardezi, while Managing Director Shahnawaz Rehman was also present there.
The meeting was told that PIA had also earned a gross profit of Rs339 million, whereas the decline in operational losses stood at 80 per cent to Rs2.5 billion and 45pc reduction in loss after tax to Rs10 billion as compared with Rs18.4 billion in the corresponding period of 2013.
