LAHORE: Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) has decided to take all trade and industry associations on board for the preparation of proposals for the budget 2014-15. The decision in this regard was taken at a meeting headed by PIAF Chairman Malik Tahir Javaid and participated by representatives of a number of trade and industry leaders.

The PIAF Chairman said that an effort would be made to give government a set of suggestions that  would help turn upcoming budget business friendly in true sense of the word. Malik Tahir Javaid said that the business community understands that the Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar was utilizing his best abilities to overcome the economic challenges but at the same time the private sector considers itself duty-bound to tell the government of hitches to speedy economic recovery.

He said that PIAF has evolved two-pronged strategy to prepare proposals for the upcoming budget. On the first leg, he said, all the Executive Committee Members of PIAF would be asked to submit sector-specific details about the problems being faced by their respective businesses while secondly a meeting of all the trade and industry associations would be convened to get their suggestions about the upcoming budget.

Malik Tahir Javaid said that after finalizing these proposals, the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry would be asked to submit them to the Finance Ministry so that these proposals could be incorporated in the upcoming budget document.

All over the world, he added, the private sector plays a leading role as far as economic policy framework is concerned therefore PIAF would also play its role to bring the country out of economic mire through well-tailored budget proposals.

Malik Tahir Javaid said that the government and the private sector should be on the same page on minor and major economic issues so that they could be resolved amicably and without any further delay.
