PIFFA, PSAA, ACAAP sign MoU for recovering defaulted payments

KARACHI: The three associations belonging to the service providers including Pakistan International Freight Forwarders Association (PIFFA), Pakistan Ship’s Agents Association (PSAA) and Air Cargo Agents Association of Pakistan (ACAAP) have jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the issue of defaulted payments. The MoU singing ceremony was held at Beach Luxury Hotel, Karachi.

PIFFA Chairman Abdul Majeed Paracha, PSAA Chairman Mohammed A Rajpar, Senior Vice Chairman of ACAAP, Mansoor Shahid Kashmirwala and former chairperson PSAA Miss Ava A Cowasjee and other office bearers were also present on the occasion.

Speaking at the occasion, Abdul Majeed Paracha termed the default payment issue a matter of annoyance for the members of all three associations.

He further informed the participants that the module for recovering the default payments should be defined and all three associations will make collective efforts for recovering the default payments.

He stressed upon the need that the legal payments of all three associations should be recovered, adding that a ‘Credit Information Bureau’ is to be established in the next phase.

On the occasion, members PIFFA admitted that they were creating problems for their clients and asked the Chairman PIFFA to formulate a comprehensive strategy to cope up with the prevailing issues.

Chairman PSAA Mohammed A Rajpar said that it was a first time in the history that all three major associations belonging to freight forwarders have united at a single platform in order to resolve their issues collectively.

Speaking at the occasion, Rajpar further said that federal government does not provide them due favour in connection with duty/taxes and imposed unjustified and illegal taxes on freight forwarders industry.

Senior Vice Chairman ACAAP, Mansoor Shahid Kashmirwala said that the office-bearers and members of all those three associations should come forward and play the due role in recovering the defaulted payments.
