LONDON: A Swedish graphic designer has released a flag to represent every single person on the face of the globe and he’s named it “The International Flag of Planet Earth”.
The design is dominated by the colour blue and a union of seven rings forming a flower.
“The blue field represents water which is essential for life – also as the oceans cover most of our planet’s surface,” the flag’s website says.
“The flower’s outer rings form a circle which could be seen as a symbol of Earth as a planet and the blue surface could represent the universe.”
Designer Oskar Pernefeldt’s study base the Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm says in a video on the flag that it’s “a reminder we should all stand united, celebrate life itself”.
The flag is only a suggestion and wasn’t made for any official reason. But you never know when we might need to stand united as a globe against an impending alien invasion, right?
Blue was chosen as the flag’s main hue also because it is a “clear contrast” to the black of outer space and the white of the space suit.
