This came during a ceremony hosted by the Indian ambassador to Jordan, Shubhdarshini Tripathi, on the occasion of her country’s 70th Independence Day anniversary.

Moreover, the minister said that in spite being a developing nation, we have seen India growing as of southern donor. Jordan for years now has been benefiting from the India Technical and Economic Cooperation program (known as ITEC program), which has been instrumental in building the capacities of Jordanian officials in a wide range of fields, as well as in offering them the opportunity of learning from India’s vast experience and know-how in the fields of finance, banking, education, small and medium sized enterprises, rural development, environment, and renewable energy.

Additionally, he said, India last year promptly responded to a call made bthe Jordan government by providing a grant of US2 million in support of priorities targeting Syrian refugees and host communities under the #Jordan Response Plan, which reflected India’s understanding of the challenges facing #Jordan and the refugee community.

Over the years, #India and Jordan have been also exerting a lot of efforts to further promote and strengthen bilateral ties and strategic relations between the two countries on different fronts. “Almost two years ago, we were privileged to receive in a historic visit to Jordan by the Indian President (back then President Shri Pranab Mukherjee, currently President Ram Nath Kovind recently elected on 20 July 2017) in response to an invitation from His Majesty King Abdullah II which underscores the desire of the two countries to further strengthen their ties”, said the minister.

Jordan-India partnership has resulted in the signing of a number of bilateral agreements and MOUs aimed at promoting and expanding critical areas of cooperation for both countries; including trade, investment promotion, customs, information and communications technology, transport, tourism, culture in addition to private sector cooperation, added the minister.

The ambassador said that bilateral relations with #Jordan are continuing an upward path, noting the exchange of visits at various levels and India’s keenness to cooperate with and support Jordan.
