PM assures Sialkot exporters of clearing Duty Drawbacks, Rebates by Jan 2018

SIALKOT: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said the government is fully aware of the perturbing problems being faced by the business community and is making all-out efforts to ensure that early amicable solution to these problems is made by taking the business community into confidence.

The prime minister stated this while talking to a delegation of Sialkot based leading exporters who called on him at Islamabad the other day. The Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) arranged this meeting of Sialkot based export tycoons with the prime minister.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi assured the Sialkot exporters that their prolonged pending rebates, duty drawbacks and sales tax claims would be cleared till January 2018.

The PM also took a serious notice of the difficulties being faced by the exporters regarding their direct shipments of exports’ consignments. The PM ordered the Secretary Finance to resolve this issue amicably on priority as well.

The Sialkot exporters said that the issuance of formal circular regarding the lifting of ban on the direct shipment would encourage the exporters a lot.

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi vowed to continue the journey of national economic stability and take the country moving ahead towards the goal of the national financial stability. He said the government will continue its agenda of economic development and stability by taking the business community into confidence.

The PM added that the Sialkot exporters are the backbone of the national economy as they have been playing a pivotal role in strengthening the national economy by earning precious foreign exchange to the tune of $2billion annually.

The PM termed Sialkot an engine for boosting the national economy. He highly hailed the unique export culture of the Sialkot. Investment in the area would be encouraged to further enhance exports, he stressed.
