ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed the authorities concerned to complete the development projects worth billions of rupees within stipulated period.
Chairing a cabinet meeting, the PM pointed out that delay in completion of projects leads to increase in cost. He said that the Neelum Jhelum project was started by the previous government and delay in its completion has increased its cost manifold. Therefore, he said that efforts should be made for timely completion of the projects.
Nawaz said energy and infrastructure projects, including development of Gwadar as a state of the art port will prove to be a game changer for the country. A comprehensive plan has been chalked out to address the electricity shortages.
He said during his visit to China, agreements will be signed on projects relating to economic corridor.
The PM directed the Planning Commission to prioritise sectoral reforms. He said exports should be boosted to enhance foreign exchange reserves and ensure balance of payment. This will also lead to alleviation of poverty and unemployment.
