PM extends deputation period of ATIR Accountant Member Riaz till April 4, 2017

ISLAMABAD: Owing to scarcity of accountant members at the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR) at all stations, the Ministry of Law and Justice has extended the deputation period of Accountant Member, Muhammad Riaz.

In a recent development pertaining to affairs of Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue, the Ministry of Law and Justice – which oversee matter relating to the tribunal – had extended deputation period of Riaz till April 4, 2017 under auspices of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Through the notification, the ministry stated: “The competent authority i.e. the Prime Minister has been pleased to extend the deputation period of Muhammad Riaz, Accountant Member (BS-21), Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR), Islamabad till his superannuation on 14-04-2017 or until further orders, whichever is earlier”.

The notification had been delivered to the several offices of state including the Cabinet Division, Establishment Division, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue and others.

It is pertinent to mention that the ministry had also recently appointed Dr Ghulam Mujtaba Bhatti, an officer of Inland Revenue (IRS) as Accountant Member in the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue (ATIR), Islamabad.

His appointment was made in exercise of powers conferred by sub section 130(4) of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, for the period of three years, the notification stated.
