PM for expanding country’s agri base through latest tech

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed the Ministry of National Food Security and Research to chalk out a strategy in consultation with the provincial governments to expand the agriculture base of the country by introducing modern techniques.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of National Food Security and Research was directed to come up with the plan soon so that appropriate budget allocations could be made in the upcoming annual budget for next fiscal.

The ministry has initiated the consultative process and would be filing the report with the Prime Minister’s Office in a fortnight which would then be put on the Federal Cabinet agenda for formal approval, an official in the government informed.

The consultative process would be on ways and means of the diversification in agriculture sector by promoting new crops and modern techniques.
