“With trade and investment being an important pillar of the government’s foreign policy, there is positive sentiment among the international community towards Pakistan’s economy, which needs to be tapped,” he added. He pointed out that industrial zones would be established through public-private partnership and joint ventures between companies.

The chairman highlighted that the government would prepare a policy framework to speed up work on industrial zones. Ashfaq recalled that policies were made by the government in consultation with all business leaders and the business community expressed complete confidence in that regard.  The policies focused on reducing the business cost besides providing an easily accessible platform to do business in the country.

Highlighting the development projects of FIEDMC, Ashfaq said that about $12 million worth of foreign investment had been pumped into various projects, which was a clear indication that foreign investors had faith in the present regime.  “Besides this, local investors and industrialists have also invested billions of rupees in FIEDMC,” he added.
