PM sets aside Customs officer Misbah’s major penalty

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has set aside major penalty of ‘removal from service’ imposed on Misbah Khatana, a BS-19 officer of Pakistan Customs Service.

The officer was removed from Service vide FBR’s Notification No.1678-C-I/2016 dated 02.08.2016. She filed a departmental appeal to the Appellate Authority/Prime Minister against the major penalty of “removal from service”.

The prime minister, in his capacity as Appellate Authority within the meaning of Rule 2(a)(1)(i) of Civil Servants (Appeals) Rules, 1977, accepted her appeal and set-aside the penalty in terms of Rule 6(1)(c) ibid.

The PM has further approved that her absence from duty from July 1, 2015 till completion of her PhD will be treated as extra-ordinary leave (EOL). The officer has been reinstated into service and was granted 2099-day leave without pay from July 1, 2015 to September 30, 2020 for completion of her PhD.
