PMLN MPA submits resolution against Asad Umer in Punjab Assembly

LAHORE: Due to hike in petroleum prices, a resolution for the resignation of Federal Finance Minister Asad Umer filed in Punjab Assembly.

Sources told Customs Today that a resolution is submitted by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Hina Pervez Butt in the Punjab Assembly secretariat demanding resignation of Finance Minister Asad Umar over “failed policies”.

MPA stated in the resolution the government’s policies with regard to prices of petroleum products have failed. It, therefore, demands that Finance Minister Asad Umar step down from his office.

The government’s decision to jack up fuel prices for the month of April had triggered strong criticism from opposition parties that are demanding the government to withdraw the hike.

The government on Sunday increased petrol and diesel prices by Rs6 per litre each and kerosene and light diesel oil (LDO) prices were jacked up by three rupees a litre for the month of April 2019 effective from today.

The petrol prices have been increased from the existing Rs92.88 to Rs98.88/litre while prices of High Speed Diesel (HSD) have been increased to Rs117.43 per litre from the earlier Rs111.43 a litre.

Kerosene price has been increased from Rs86.31 to Rs89.31 per litre. The LDO price has been increased from earlier Rs77.53 to Rs80.53 per litre.
