KARACHI: Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) has announced the successful induction of a new tanker vessel, the M.T. Quetta, into its managed fleet, according to a disclosure submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).

The vessel, with a deadweight tonnage of 49,999 DWT, has been inducted through PNSC’s subsidiary Quetta Shipping (Pvt) Ltd.

This disclosure follows the earlier announcement made by PNSC on October 22, 2025, regarding the addition of this vessel to its fleet, which operates under the guidelines of the Securities Act of 2015 and the Pakistan Stock Exchange rules.

The induction of M.T. Quetta marks a significant addition to PNSC’s fleet as the company continues to expand its operations. In a separate development late last month, the federal government finalised a strategic plan to revive and expand the national shipping sector, including a significant enlargement of PNSC’s fleet and bringing the National Logistics Cell (NLC) into maritime operations.

Under the business plan for 2026–2030, PNSC’s operational vessels are set to increase from 10 to 54 over the next five years as part of efforts to boost the national cargo‑carrying capacity and reduce reliance on foreign‑flagged ships.
