WARSAW: The standing committee of the Polish government has approved a PLN 2 billion wage bill hike, which should translate into some 5% wage increase if teachers, who got raises during the crisis, were excluded from the pool.
However, indexation will still be maintained at 0%, which means that wage hikes will be made according to discretion of particular decision makers within the sector. Wages of most public sector workers have been frozen since 2009 due to the excessive deficit procedure which places curbs on public sector wage bill.
