WARSAW: The Polish Bureau for the Development of Agriculture and the Regions said that Poland will gain a withdrawal subsidy for 8000 tons of fruit and vegetables granted by the Commission of the European Union.
The subsidy was granted to compensate Poland for the losses caused by the embargo raised by Russia in August 2014. Before that Poland had a quota of 7720 tons, which was the largest of all the EU member countries.
The Polish Minister of Agriculture emphasized that Poland was the biggest sufferer of the Russian embargo and was previously able to export almost 1 million tons of apples to Russia before it was raised.
