WARSAW: Warsaw’s Chopin airport is to be expanded as passenger numbers soar, an official said on Wednesday. The airport on Tuesday welcomed its 12 millionth passenger this year, setting a new record. Mariusz Szpikowski, head of the Polish Airports State Enterprise, told the PAP news agency: “From year to year, passenger traffic at the airport is growing.”
He added: “Last year we served over 11 million passengers. This year, we estimate that it will be more than 12.7 million people. And next year it may even be 14 million people. This means that… the airport’s capacity is slowly being used up.”The Polish Airports State Enterprise (PPL) manages Warsaw’s Chopin Airport, Poland’s largest.
