WARSAW: Polish gyms recorded revenues of PLN 3.6 in 2014, compared with €834 million in 2013, according to a report compiled by Deloitte and EuropeActive.
There are 2,500 gyms operating in Poland, compared with 2,400 in the previous year. The number of Poles working out in fitness clubs grew over the last year to 2.73 million from 2.48 million in 2013.
“Most gyms are private, and compared with the rest of Europe, the Polish market fragmentation is considerable. Eight of the largest domestic operators have a 4.8 percent market share. Employee [fitness] programs are very popular in Poland, contrary to other countries,” said partner at Deloitte Marcin Diakonowicz.
Gym owners are optimistic about the future. More than 80 percent of them think that the market will record further growth in 2015.
