Police arrest diesel smugglers, hand over to Customs

KARACHI: The police have arrested 18 suspects, including a diesel smuggler, in different raids and recovered arms, snatched motorbikes, cell phones and drugs from their possession.

The police handed him over to the Customs police for further investigation. It was learnt that during the search operations in Sharfi Goth, Surjani town, Eidgah and Ittehad Town, the police detained eight alleged criminals.

Police carried out raids in other areas including Zaman Town, and nabbed three drug peddlers and recovered wine and hashish from them.

Police also arrested three motorbike lifters, Ishtiaq Nabi, son of Nabi Hussain, Danial son of Aqeel, Muhammad Asad son of Muhammad Akhtar from Ajmair Nagri and Shahrah Noor Jahan areas. The police also recovered three stolen bikes from their possession.

Kalakot police arrested three extortionists and recovered hand grenades, pistols and cell phones from them.

According to police sources, on a tip-off, Mouchko police seized 5,000 litres of smuggled Iranian diesel from a Hino passenger bus. The diesel was concealed into the specially designed hidden cavities of the bus.

The police also arrested the bus driver Abdul Waheed, son of Muhammad Baloch, from the spot.
