Police close to arrest main suspect of Edhi Centre robbery

KARACH: The police said that they have identified the main suspect of the robbery who had been meeting with Abdul Sattar Edhi for the last few months and he knew about the foreign currency and jewellery at the Edhi Centre.

As per details, at least eight armed robbers stormed into the Edhi Welfare Centre in the Mithadar area on Sunday and took away Rs 10 million, five kilogram gold and other valuable items. The robbers held Edhi at gunpoint and decamped with cash and valuables.

The police is investigating the fingerprints, found from the crime scene and the videos of the CCTV cameras of the nearby banks were also being checked to help in the arrest of the suspects.

While talking to media, Edhi said the robbers woke him up and rushed straight to the cupboard where the money and gold was kept. He expressed his grief over the robbery, saying that he has been deprived of some valuables that belonged to other people.

Taking notice of the robbery, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah has directed police to bring the culprits to book.
