PORT ARTHUR: Port Arthur City Council met Tuesday night to discuss the adoption of a new city logo and slogan. The logos and slogans, created by e.Sullivan Advertising & Design, are apart of a city wide rebranding effort that is a year in the making. The adoption was tabled at the council meeting allows time for more community input. Port Arthur citizens will have an opportunity to take a survey which will be on the City of Port Arthur’s website and social media starting Thursday. If you aren’t tech savvy or don’t have access to a computer you can call the Port Arthur Convention and Visitors Bureau to give your thoughts.
The logo says “Port Arthur Texas” with five circles above that are meant to represent the Greater Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce, the Port Arthur Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Port Arthur Economic Development Corporation, the Port of Port Arthur, and the City of Port Arthur. The logos vary only slightly in font as well as color scheme. The logo also replaces the oil pump jack in one logo with oil storage tanks.
“We wanted a logo and slogan that could describe every entity whose responsibility it is to promote the city of Port Arthur,” said Port Arthur City Councilwomen Tiffany Hamilton. Council member Hamilton also notes the project will not increase city taxes. The project is being funded in it’s entirety by the Port Arthur CVB, with the funds coming from the hotel/motel tax.
